A 6 - MILE STRETCH OF VIRTUALLY ROAD FREE ROUTES, AVOIDING THE ALREADY OVERLOADED, UNINVESTED ROAD, COMMUTER AND PEDESTRIAN INFRASTRUCTURE AT SEVERAL MAJOR LOCATIONS, CONNECTING SEVERAL VITAL INTERSECTIONS, CONNECTING SEVERAL VITAL SPACES AND RECONNECTING SEVERAL VITAL COMMUNITIES ALL WITH EACH OTHER, AND THOSE MUCH FURTHER AFIELD.

HONESTLY, IT JUST GOES ON AND ON AND ON...

THIS IS COST EFFECTIVE, INTELLIGENT, COMMON SENSE

THE HIVE EFFECT - CHANGE HAS COME

The Queens Highway

The Queens Highway is a 6-mile route that runs along the A4123, The National Grid Pylons & Power Lines, and The M5 Motorway, in an area called Sad-Unwell. It re-connects the neglected and abandoned communities that survive along this vile, man-made corridor of despair, nestled between a hill full of live toxic hazardous waste landfill sites (ROWLEY HILL), and a hill with a beautiful, untouched, ancient woodland and river (WARLEY HILL), that is soon to become another private housing estate, a concrete water culvert and flood zone "park". Oh, and a school.

Are our leaders as toxic as our soils?

Regis - Of The King?

Your Majesty,

This is all that the people of Rowley Regis, Lion Farm, Whiteheath, Causeway Green & Brandhall have left to call our own, and after everything that we have given to the people over the generations, it is with a sad heart that we have to present it to you in this condition, but it was not supposed to be this way. Our guardians, our leaders, and our peers have systematically failed us, and we have so little left, that soon there will be only belated words, pictures, memories and dreams to give.

The Queens Highway was meant to be a Jubilee gift in honour of Our Queen, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and it should have been grown already. It represents the reconnecting of broken links from our past to the present day, and promotes the coexistence and cohabitation of people, communities, the environment and nature, through nature.

Welcome to
Rowley Reginae.

THE QUEENSWAY

Starting from the Queensway in Brandhall, the cycle and walk way will travel along the existing track that runs from "the cage" basketball court to the clubhouse, located at the end of Brook Road. From the club house the Queens Highway continues across the man-made dam and along the route of the old 1st fairway toward the old 1st green that is located at the junction of Ferndale Road and Grafton Road.
At this intersection the Brandhall Golf Course Route continues around the perimeter of the course to its origins, and The Queens Highway Crosses Grafton Road via a pedestrian crossing, that will also serve as traffic control for this stretch of road, which is too fast.
On the other side of the road there is vehicular access to a horse paddock and the abandoned allotment behind the houses on Grafton Road.

PEDESTRIAN CROSSING #1

Grafton Road at the junction of Ferndale Road. It is a very fast stretch of road already, and a pedestrian crossing here would calm that down.

THE BRIDLEWAY

Along the back edge of Grafton Playing fields there is still the old bridleway that runs from the horse paddocks at the top of Grafton Road to the bridge at Yates Lane. The Queens Highway follows this route from Brandhall Golf Course, through the allotments and along Grafton Fields, where it crosses the bridge to the intersection of Yates Lane and Cakemore Road. At this intersection the route crosses Cakemore road via a pedestrian crossing and travels along Cakemore Road on the existing wide pathway to the intersection of Penncricket Lane and Cakemore Raod.
A pedestrian crossing on Penncricket Lane will allow better and safer pedestrian flow as well as calm the traffic flow instead of the chicane which bottlenecks as the road gets busy.

PEDESTRIAN CROSSING #2

Cakemore Road has always been a fast road, and this bend is no stranger to accidents. It is a major route for commuters who use Rowley Regis Train Station, and now, there is a major housing development on it, and Goals who use it as a carpark, so a crossing here for everyone would be good.
While we are at it, let's paint a line all the way down it to promote a bit of cycling?

PEDESTRIAN CROSSING #3

Penncricket Lane/ Cakemore Road intersection. There is a school here and no crossing point to this road. Being as the school is remaining where it is, a crossing here would be highly beneficial.

THE CAUSEWAY

Starting from Penncricket Lane, The Queens Highway cycle and walk way will travel along the existing route that crosses through the middle of The Billies to Ashes Road. This route will have shallower gradients at the Penncricket Lane end, and a slight alteration to the middle section to allow for the bike park. There will also be a circular route around The Billies.
At the Ashes Road side of The Billies, The Queens Highway will travel down Ashes Road  via a newly created cycle lane that covers the length of the road. Underneath the M5 motorway bridge on Titford Road, The Queens Highway crosses the road via pedestrian crossing to Titford Pool and canal.

THE WATERWAY

Starting from Titford Lane, The Queens Highway cycle and walk way will travel along the existing route that runs parallel with Richards Close to the intersection of The M5, Junction 2, on the Oldbury Road, opposite Lion Farm Playing Fields.
At this intersection, The Queens Highway crosses the Oldbury Road road via pedestrian crossing to Lion Farm Fields.
This crossing will allow for safer pedestrian roaming and better traffic calming, especially during the busier periods.

THE GRASSLANDS

Starting from the pedestrian crossing on the Oldbury Road, opposite the entrance to Titford Pool, The Queens Highway cycle and walk way will travel along the existing route that runs alongside the Lion Farm Estate to the Social Club.
At this intersection, The Queens Highway changes direction and runs alongside the Birchley Social Club toward the allotments, where it joins the existing driveway that leads to Newbury Lane.
At this point the route crosses Newbury Lane via a pedestrian crossing and travels along to the entrance of the Portway Lifestyle Centre, where it enters The Rowley Hills Nature Reserve and its existing walkways and paths.
