THERE IS A BETTER WAY
TO CO-EXIST, TO EVOLVE, TO THRIVE... AND TO BUILD A SCHOOL

GROWING HEALTHY CHILDREN
Charlton Manor, a large inner-city primary in south-east London, grows figs, oranges, tomatoes, kiwis and grapes. They also have allotment space at nearby farm, where they grow what is referred to as “abundant food” such as potatoes and rhubarb for the school canteen.
There are chickens and beehives (with fully trained beekeeper pupils) and the school has a campaigns team made up of year 5 and 6 pupils who raise awareness about healthy diets.
“Charlton is a brilliant example of a school bringing together gardening and healthy eating,” says Collins. “With vision and a bit of dedication, any school can get growing.”
1ST ZERO CARBON SCHOOL
Ashmount Primary School in Islington, London, is the UK’s first zero carbon in use school. The scheme is zero carbon thanks to combined use of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant and a 495kW biomass boiler, housed in the Energy Centre. Base heating is provided by CHP and biomass with CHP also meeting electrical demands of the park lighting.
Excess heat from CHP (70kWe, 104kWth) is delivered off site to neighbouring dwellings thus offsetting the site’s own carbon footprint.
An E-Stack system uses low velocity fans to mix incoming and outgoing air in winter and a path for secure night-time cooling in the summer. Energy savings will be significant over a standard naturally-ventilated solution, saving £1,000 in costs per year.

BETTER WAYS
To build a school
A school could be built on the existing site with ease. The site does not flood. It can no longer flood, because Brandhall Golf Course now retains all of the flood water further upstream. Furthermore, the entire length of brook road is a flood catchment basin, so that would have to fill from the sky directly above it, or the manmade dam on the golf course would have to fail.
How about a new eco-school, with a rooftop garden, and re-opening the River Tame water culvert to create a natural space?
WE RECKON THAT IT FLOODS THAT MUCH ON THIS SITE, THAT SAD-UNWELL WILL BUILD AN ENTIRE NEW HOUSING ESTATE THERE FASTER THAN YOU CAN BLINK! Who are these people kidding?

Food For All
Food. We don't need to go into detail about the global food chain but mentioning the cost, the shortage, and the demand is something that affects us at a local level. The Hive Effect can alleviate some of those problems by making fresh produce available to local people who may never have had access to such produce before.
This IS Food For All - so Join In and dig in!
Next Level Education
For the engineers out there, for the inventors and the problem solvers, we have some projects to whet your appetite too. They are all very hush right now but all will be revealed at our launch. It may turn out that you have an idea that is the best idea ever and you want to shout about it. Contact us by pressing the button below.

This Is Permaculture
The Ethics on which permaculture are built:
-
"Care of Earth: Provision for all life systems to continue to multiply"
-
"Care of People: Provision for people to access those resources necessary for their existence"
